What supplies will you need?
Make sure you verify this with your region directors before you purchase.
The Rock and Mineral Directors Kit: Used over a 2 week period. Rocks will be studied the first week, followed by minerals the next week. You can have a classroom of 8 - 10 students working at one time. One director is going to put the specimens on the table and let them pick one, and then will allow them to pick a test. ie.. black streak, acid, magnetic etc... then the students will rotate the testing supplies as needed to complete them all. I include enough testing supplies for up to 10 students to work independently at one time. The kit includes a unit study and all of the information you need to test basic rock and mineral knowledge.
You would need to order a set per classroom if you are teaching more than one class of 8-10 at a time. Additional specimens and testing supplies available if you only need those items.
Crayfish: One per student with a skeletal ID chart. You are not dissecting, only looking at the body and parts. We offer a class pack of 10 that are not individually sealed and individually sealed ones if you only need a few extra. One year shelf life if these are sealed. Use within 1-2 weeks once opened, reseal in ziplock bags. The specimens include the skeletal ID charts. There is a Student Prep Kit available that includes an apron, gloves and anti-microbial wipes.
Owl Pellet and Bone Chart: One per 2 students. We offer the complete kit with everything as well as individual pellets. If you are buying the kits, you will need to purchase an additional Student Prep kit to ensure both students have an apron, gloves and anti-microbial wipes.
